Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology has started a field work phase of pilot investigation on sustainable and innovative use of marine resources

On 20 April 2017 Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology has started a field work phase of pilot investigation on sustainable and innovative use of marine resources as a task in the project "SmartBlueRegions". Two sets of three ropes as a substrate for settling and further growth of bivalves Dreissena polymorpha will be deployed in the Gulf of Riga near Zvejniekciems and Lapmežciems for testing. Bivalves are important players in the self-purification processes of the Baltic Sea water. #SmartBlueRegions, #SUBMARINER Network
